EFNEP Peer Educators   arrow

Colorado State University Extension (CSU-E) EFNEP classes are delivered by nutrition peer educators. According to research findings, peer educators using a learner-centered approach is more effective than experts called on to “teach” a group of students.

Often the peer educators live in the communities where they work. They recruit families and receive referrals from neighborhood contacts and community agencies (such as Public Health and Social Services).

CSU-E EFNEP peer educators are hired because of their intimate relationship with the community and their ability to relate and empathize with participants. They will also market the program through brochures and posters that may be displayed in areas where low income people congregate.
